Can’t Hardly Wait

Love begs to break
routine monotony
A search among the fields
a mundane sight
My lily blossoms
in the valley
She bursts in color
through my black-and-white

I’d be a tree to
give my flower shade
Extend my branch to
hand her apples sweet
A cooling canopy where
she may lay
A gentle embrace
head down to her feet

It is not time for
our love to awake
Although it’s true that
I can’t hardly wait
